Revitalization Strategies at the Kootenai Business Park

On November 9th, 9:30 am,  the board of the Lincoln County Port Authority and EPA will host a candid discussion on redevelopment opportunities and obstacles as we move beyond the Libby Asbestos Superfund cleanup on the Kootenai Business Park in Libby, MT. The 400 acres of the KBP represents a scarce economic development asset in our region – sizable acreage adjacent to rail spur on to the BNSF mainline. The KBP also presents suitable opportunities to anchor recreational amenities for the town. We’ll unmask an undiluted SWOT analysis during our session and hear from successful business investors and economic development professionals, who have advanced similar projects. Your feedback will be integral to a productive outcome.

This all day event is being coordinated with support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund Redevelopment Initiative. In case you hadn’t heard, EPA has completed cleanup in this portion of the Libby Asbestos Superfund Site and we expect to complete all cleanup within the City of Libby by summer 2018.

The purpose of this collaborative event is to help the Lincoln County Port Authority 1) determine near and long-term actions that will result in a practical implementation plan; 2) identify new potential resources; and 3) to build partnerships and teams that can help to implement the plan.

Lunch will be served to participants. To RSVP call Tina Oliphant 406-544-6578. Windshield tours are available before the session starts.
